# Installing the app from HCS

## The basics

HCS is a community store. For HCS to function you need to install a program on either Windows or MacOS that installs the HCS app on your Homey.

When it has been set up it will update the apps that you have installed from HCS automatically, unless you have specified that it should not update. It is recommended for the Nest SDM app to have updated automatically to enjoy the latest features.

Make sure that you are logged into your Homey on the HCS website, if you have not, the install button of the apps will be grey.

When that is done, search for the Google Nest SDM app and hit the install button. It will schedule the installation of the app on your Homey. In case of issues you can install a previous version of the app by clicking on the blue Nest icon. It will show a number of available versions you can choose from.
