What is Google Nest SDM?

Google Nest SDM is an app for Homey that integrates Nest devices supported through the Google Nest SDM API.

Google Nest Devices that appear in the Google Home app are supported by this Nest SDM app.

Nest Protect is an exception to this, these devices have been integrated into the app as well. This integration is a workaround for the official SDM API and uses the old (deprecated) API (WWN) based on a Google User, it does not work with (unmigrated) Nest users.

The official documentation and supported devices can be found at the external link below. The Hub Max is advertised as being supported by the SDM API, and it will show up in the app, but the events to support this device are not being delivered through the Google Pub/Sub system. The app is using the old interface used for the nest Protect to provide the events and info as well for the Hub Max.

Different devices have different capabilities, and newer battery powered devices are lacking some, like the ability to download an image related to events.

This documentation is a work in progress, so anything that you miss, please report on the Homey forum.

BE AWARE that Google will charge a 5$ onetime fee for usage of the Device Access Sandbox environment and usage of the API. If you only use Nest Protect only set the Legacy part and the 5$ is not needed.
